This year’s pow wow was a huge success, with a total of 34 boys and 18 commanders/leaders in attendance. The worship was led by Pastor Kalani from Teen Challenge and Pastor Lokahi from Paradise Chapel Maile, and it was truly an awe-inspiring experience for everyone present.
In an effort to make this year’s pow wow even more special, we decided to add a 6′ rock wall and Archery Tag to the lineup of activities. The boys absolutely loved these new additions, and it was amazing to see how much fun they were having. We also had a number of other events planned, including BB gum, Archery, Ax & knife throwing, an Obstacle course, and a craft building a tool box that every boy took home.
Throughout the pow wow, we made sure to take lots of photos and videos so that we could capture all of the amazing moments. We will be sending these to you soon so that you can get a sense of just how much fun everyone had.
One of the highlights of the pow wow was the color guard ceremony, which was led by the commanders on Friday morning. Pastor Blaise served as our Kitchen Chief, with men from Teen Challenge lending a helping hand. The property itself was absolutely stunning, covered with all kinds of beautiful Hawaiian plants and surrounded by an 8′ moss rock wall.
But the real goal of the pow wow was to help these boys connect with Jesus. We prayed that at least one boy would give his life to Jesus, and we were thrilled when that prayer was answered. Seeing the boys connect with their faith in such a powerful way made all of the hard work and planning worth it.
We are already looking forward to next year’s pow wow and are hoping to have even more boys in attendance. With the help of the Lord, we know that we can make it happen.
