Candidates must demonstrate preparation in Bible knowledge, theology, church polity, and ministry practice. There are three primary educational paths:

1. Global University Correspondence Courses

Complete a set of approved theology and ministry courses via correspondence. These typically include:
  • Bible Doctrines
  • Bible Survey / Introduction
  • Church History
  • Ministry Philosophy and Practice
  • AG Constitution & Bylaws / Polity
  • Evangelism & Church Ministries
  • Pastoral Care and Counseling
  • Missions & Cross-cultural Ministry
  • Pentecostal & Charismatic Teachings
  • MIN 171 and THE 142 are required regardless of your entry level
  • Completing all three levels fulfills the academic requirements for AG ordination through General Council

2. Endorsed AG College or Seminary

Enrolled in an AG-accredited college or seminary curriculum with ministry focus. You must complete:

  • A minimum of 2 years (Certified credential)
  • 3 years (Licensed credential)
  • 4 years (Ordained credential)

Including core ministry courses like Bible & Theology, AG History, Polity, etc.

3. Equivalent Training or Mature Ministry

Under special district approval, you may substitute:
  • Self-study combined with extensive ministry experience
  • Individualized course plans approved by your district credentials committee

Required Standard Credentialing Exam

All candidates must pass the General Presbytery–approved standard exam, which covers:
  • Bible knowledge
  • AG doctrinal beliefs
  • Assemblies of God policies and procedures
